It's naieve to think that Communnications will not evolve in ways specifically designed to facilitate and enhance soft-skill interactions without the need to aggregate people at a single central location to the exclusion of many many others. The main reason why centralized facilities can endure is that they can almost completely remove any maintenance and implementation costs of worktools (including furnishings) for an employee.

But given that cost savings, the main reason why people want to congregate regularly in any location is because of the desire for a social environment that encourages their prospect of being rewarded in a way that they prefer. People's preferences differ widely and personal influence is like one of the four forces, like magnetism or gravity, that coordinates things.
3. Sitting in a facility in a repetitive task-oriented job with little need for mobility or collaboration is already a pretty "Remote" experience.
